Lord Venkateswara is an incarnation of Vishnu, who is a resident of Vaikuntha. Goddess Lakshmi, once had a fight with Lord Vishnu, and left the Vaikuntha. She came and settled on the Earth in disguise. Lord Vishnu soon followed her and tried searching for her, alas with no success!
